![]() ![]() The shower head was laughably low to the point where I had to contort my body and duck down to wash my hair. Attempted to shower and the tub filled up with water and would not drain. The carpet was filthy with stains and the bathroom was the worst part of all. Seriously in need of a good updating and cleaning. The rooms (at least the one I stayed in) was ROUGH. ![]() The only positives here are the picturesque location and variety of activities. Not sure how anyone can give this place more than 2 stars. Perhaps a systematic bathroom and room renovation is already underway- if so, insist upon a renovated room. ![]() In closing - Equinox should TRAIN AND SUPERVISE THEIR STAFF, perform more routine maintenance - get out the paint brushes, leaf blowers and brooms. Beautiful hiking trails right off property. Great sculpt & stretch class teacher and included offering. Let me end on some positives- delicious coffee and tea station- well maintained (not withstanding with attitude). Very poor bathroom lighting, and in desperate need of a renovation. Regarding the rooms themselves, no turn down, I guess that is a post-Covid deletion for some upper level hotels that will continue. The housekeeper just took two clean glasses that we brought from home, when we asked the front desk, they looked at us like we had two heads. Regarding the rooms… We had 2 wine glasses, let’s call “stolen”, which we had brought for a very nice bottle of wine. Walking around the property, upper courtyard, side steps, dirt & debris all over the steps, something a broom and leaf blower and simple broom would take care of. However, I did find the front desk staff to be solid. At one point I walked up to a young gentleman filling the coffee, he was downright surly and somewhat nasty. Standing there, swinging key strings in circles (I have honestly never seen this in a $500/night hotel in my life), staring down guests as they pass, not greeting guests, borderline rude. Who do I mean- as an example the forward facing front door people. Perhaps a harder issue to fix (or not?) is the auxiliary staff. As an example- easy paint touch ups, sweeping entry ways and deep cleaning musty carpets are easy. I overall found the Equinox hotel in need of an upgrade AND deep clean. I want to be fair here, it is an older historical hotel. (Would have posted photos but it was taking forever!) We will have to find another "home away from home". We have been going to the Equinox for 27 years and loved it through multiple owners, but this was so bad we'll never go back. We also received a letter from the President of Pyramid Global Hospitality which was appreciated. We did receive a phone call from the Equinox General Manager which was appreciated. After two phone calls to the resort and letters and photos to the General Manager and the CEO of Pyramid Global Hospitality, we were promised a four-night refund which was applied to our AMEX card two weeks later. We checked out after two nights of our five-night reservation and drove 5 hours back home. Service was bad, the room rate was high ($750 to $1000 per night with a $150 cleaning fee!), and they listed it on their site as a "short term vacation rental" which translated to no housekeeping services upon arrival. When you read the bad reviews, believe them! Our Townhome had broken or inoperable lamps, broken, torn or jammed windows and screens, ants and dust, dirty carpet, a filthy closet and a damp, musty smell. ![]()
